Just Like the Others
03:18
|
|||
I slipped on an icy patch of road
It was a great fall-so I'm told, and when I woke I couldn't see what was around me
And as I lay there in the cold,
I thought about growing old with no ability to see,
And how it killed me
'Cause I thought about it all of the time but just like the others
I'd never expect that fate could be for a normal guy like me
And the irony that now I can't see, I saw none above us
And the revelation oh I can't tell you what it meant to me
And so all my life had changed; priorities were rearranged
I told my friends I'd seen the light when my head hit the ground that night
They didn't understand at all- thought I was fucked up from the fall
So I explained and changed their views-
That's why I need to talk to you
'Cause I thought about it all of the time but just like the others
I'd never expect that fate could be for a normal guy like me
And the irony that now I can't see, I saw none above us
And the revelation oh I can't tell you what it meant to me

In between You & Me
03:46
|
|||
The drawings carved upon a tree reflecting how we used to be
If only what was carved could be cemented for evermore
But now just as you did to me, the branches are stripped down tactically-
I almost heard the screams as he was chopped down to the floor
We talked it over to the point where we could only say what had been said
A thousand times before
We talked it over to the point where we had counted all the fence posts on The way to in between you and me
It all began at seventeen, the age of great naivety-
And everything you said to me I kept within my mind
You said I could begin to be the only boy in history
To change the way you lived to leave the other boys behind
We talked it over to the point where we could only say what had been said
A thousand times before
We talked it over to the point where we had counted all the fence posts on The way to in between you and me

Sure Divide
04:38
|
|||
All your pieces will have to wait
I've got some delays to anticipate;
My fragile nerves can't handle the words your frightening mouth makes
Take it easy on me for a change
My parents have been acting strange-
I think they know about my problems but haven't found the time to ask me
I'll take my time when there's a sure divide
And in your absence flared
Wave goodbye to what might have been
Your flower will take my queen, maybe its time for a change
Can we not arrange a trade?
I'll take my time when there's a sure divide
And in your absence flared

Midnight Sun
02:42
|
|||
You're screaming from the midnight sun
'Cause you thought it would never come
You're shivering in the summer snow
'Cause you thought the cold would go
It all could change for us you know.
You're swimming in the desert sea
'Cause you thought it would not be
You're dreaming that you could go back
And take a different tack
When you realise that there is no God
And your whole religion's flawed.
It all could change for us you know
If you could only take things slow

Colourless
05:28
|
|||
Only white is left
Not the second time I've been so colourless
I have to take what's brightest
Holding the shades in a tangle
